Column: Regents far too money-minded

by Richard M. Berthold Daily Lobo Columnist Bill Gordon is gone now, off to be provost and no doubt soon president of Wake Forest University. He was probably the best we could do: unlike most he was a long-time faculty member at UNM and appeared to have some genuine concern for students and faculty (though most of the innovations in undergraduate teaching should be credited to University College dean Peter White.

I am an over 50-year old grad student, and if memory serves me, the women of my generation worked hard and paid dearly for the opportunity to express ourselves in whatever manner we felt appropriate - whether it be to dance at TD's or to be an opponent of the very concept of their advertising in a university newspaper.

Lopez says UNM ruined her reputation

Former UNM professor Cynthia Lopez filed suit against UNM and three employees of the medical school last week claiming that she was harassed, discredited and retaliated against for "doing her job." Lopez is a medical professional who has been working within UNM's academic community for the past five years.

Final figures show UNM's summer class enrollment up

UNM has compiled its final figures for summer school enrollment totals for 2002. Overall, main campus trends continued with very little change in the total number of undergraduate and graduate students attending classes.

Letter: Bush's enthusiasm misleading

Once again, I have to really question the words that come out of our illustrious president's mouth. Last week I heard a news clip from Dubya's economic summit. Bush was quoted as saying he was confident of an economic upswing. His optimism is based on his strong belief in the spirit of our nation's people and the fruits of their labor.
