ON-LINE: Jameson breaks trend with love songs

It's a little known fact that Albuquerque has a thriving singer/songwriting scene. It's also a little known fact that Roger Jameson is one of the most consistent singer/songwriters in town. That he hasn't gotten more recognition for that is a shame, but his latest, The Great Compromise (Red Rebel Records), may finally change that.

Grove's debut embraces Americana

Even after all this time, people still give a funny look when they hear the word Americana. What does it mean? Americana is pretty much a catchall term for anyone who plays music that sounds like old-time country music, but doesn't exactly look like an old-time country music type person.

Jeremy longs for stardom

Sitting on the dais at The Pit's interview room after the Lobos' 91-85 overtime victory over the University of Miami, a look of pain passed over the sophomore point guard's face as teammate Chelsea Grear talked about the first half of the game.

Lobos to host Miami in NCAA first round

What a difference a year makes. Last year, when the UNM women's basketball team gathered to watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, they sat nervously hoping they wouldn't be passed over. This season, having returned home with the MWC tournament title and automatic bid to the Big Dance in hand, their nails were safe - these Lobos knew they were in.

New Molotov album attacks racism

Like the bomb it gets its name from, Molotov is made from simple ingredients -- rock, underground rap, mainstream rap, dance music and equal parts English, Spanish and Chilango. And it's explosive. On its third CD release Dance and Dense Denso, the Mexico City-based quartet defies categorization, tweaking with styles and sounds as easily as some musicians tweak the levels on their amplifiers.
