COLUMN: Wars for democracy ironic
February 21One of the predominant missions of the United States since it became an imperialist power at the turn of the 20th century has been to proliferate democracy. Understandably, this mission is flexible, as the exigencies of global politics sometimes put democracy on the backburner.
Greeks devote time, donations to sick children
Carla Medina | February 21Members of University fraternities and sororities played games with patients at the UNM Children's Hospital Tuesday and Wednesday as part of their annual Greek Week activities.
Metheny magic mixed on new CD
Jessica Minturn | February 20My first introduction to the Pat Metheny Group came at age 9, on one of many mind-numbing car trips my family took to California.
LETTER: Pro-lifers should save the living
February 20Ahh, the sweet smell of hypocrisy has once again swept over our campus.
Students take to sidewalks for safety
Jason Gil Bear | February 20Burnt out light bulbs, large cracks in sidewalks and tall bushes were at the top of most checklists Tuesday evening as UNM students surveyed the campus during the spring semester safety walk.
LETTER: Pro-choice crowd's methods humorous

Students protest exhibit
Andrew Webb | February 20Organizers of counter-demonstrations to a 30-foot tall, 40-foot long anti-abortion exhibit near Ortega Hall say they want to offer alternative viewpoints to the graphic display they call propaganda.
LETTER: Ignoring exhibit, abortion does not make it go away
February 20Kudos to Justice for All and its exhibit on campus. While I am unable to see it myself, I'm glad to know that it's out there for other people to view. People so often talk about abortion rights and a woman's right to choose, yet they oppose the other side expressing opposite views.
COLUMN: Ectogenesis solution to abortion
February 20The 18-foot tall anti-abortion display on campus this week is certainly attracting its share of attention. The gruesome photos were chosen to provoke disgust in any who see them, and they do this job well.
LETTER: Anti-abortion exhibition is commendable, honest
February 20I am writing to commend the anti-abortion presentation that was on campus on Monday. I think it is about time that people see the real faces of abortion, the innocent children that are brutally murdered. I know that a lot of women believe that anti-abortion protests are about taking away rights from women, but I don't think that is the case. It is about giving rights to those who cannot defend themselves.
President visits South Korea to shine light on northern 'evil'
February 20President Bush will travel to a front line of his "axis of evil" Wednesday to cast North Korea's leaders as the forces of darkness.
Pro-life advocates on campus
Andrew Webb | February 20Justice For All Inc., the anti-abortion group sponsoring a week-long display on campus featuring large pictures of aborted fetuses, is no stranger to controversy.
LETTER: Government shouldn't thrust views upon us
February 20In reading Adrian Martinez's letter in Tuesday's Daily Lobo denouncing those who protest the current display of Justice for All, I can say I agree with only one thing: The group should be allowed to voice their opinion.
