Only You Can Prevent Kiosk Fires

A posting pillar outside Mesa Vista Hall was set on fire Monday night. UNM police officers Karen Smith and Jason Benally found the pillar burning while walking across campus. The officers put out the fire with an extinguisher from a nearby food stand.

TVI student dedicated to blood

TVI student Shae Martin devotes most of her time shuttling blood to city hospitals and shipping it statewide. Martin works in the hospital services division of the United Blood Services. With airline flights to small cities in the Southwest recently reduced, Martin said blood deliveries to smaller hospitals in New Mexico take more time. All flights to Hobbs, N.M., were cancelled late last year and flights to other New Mexico cities such as Roswell, Alamogordo and Clovis are so infrequent that hospital services representatives looked to reliable, but slower, alternative transportation for blood supplies.

Editor, In response to Jason Gil Bear's letter "Justice system fails teenager with life sentence," it is not the justice system or the WWF that is to blame in this situation. The only thing to blame is the failure of a capable 12-year-old's judgment.

Students urge Johnson to sign scholarship bill

ASUNM representatives are encouraging students to let Gov. Gary Johnson know how much the lottery scholarship means to them and urge him to sign a bill that would shore up the scholarship. The governor has two lottery scholarship bills on his desk that must either be signed or vetoed by April 6 or they will be pocket vetoed, or automatically killed by his inactivity.

The UNM women's basketball team moved one step closer to winning its first-ever Women's National Invitation Tournament Championship with an impressive 68-43 win over the University of Hawaii Saturday night in The Pit.

Editor, The Associated Students of UNM Senate passed amendment 5B not because it wanted to punish the Daily Lobo, but because we want to put $38,000 of unused student fees back into the hands of student groups and organizations.

Editor, In recent weeks a great deal of construction work has occurred on campus. The noise, especially in close proximity to a classroom building, is not only distracting but causes problems for those who are trying to concentrate on a lecture.
