Santos Laguna grabs 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids

Competing in an international friendly competition at University Stadium Friday night, Santos Laguna of Liga MX captured a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids, a Major League Soccer franchise.

Santos Laguna’s Nestor Calderon scored the game-winning goal at the 76-minute mark on a breakaway toward the Colorado net.

The teams were tied at one goal apiece through the first 45 minutes. The Rapids struck first 12 minutes into the contest off a free kick by Kevin Harbottle. Six minutes later, Santos’ Alanso Escoboza netted the equalizer after driving down the left side.

More than 9,000 fans attended the friendly with most cheering for Santos.
