OPINION: Bobbleheads of the week

There are winners and there are losers. Not every loser is the same, as these players' performances were key in costing their teams this week. These players are favorably known as bobbleheads.

“You can’t win ‘‘em all” is a phrase these pro sports players definitely had to hear after some terrible performances this week. Here are the players whose play this week earned them the title of bobblehead.

Indianapolis Colts: quarterback Daniel Jones

On Sunday, Nov. 2, the Indianapolis Colts took on the Pittsburgh Steelers and dropped to 7-2 after losing 27-20. The defense for the most part did their job, holding the Steelers to just 225 total yards, but the offense, particularly Jones, made too many mistakes, maybe having some deja vu days from his time with the Giants.

Jones was 31 out of 50 for 342 passing yards, one touchdown, five turnovers, three interceptions and three fumbles, two of which were lost.

Despite their second loss of the season, the Colts are still tied for the best record in the AFC, and are 2 games ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC south. Nonetheless, they play in Germany on Sunday, Nov. 9, versus the Atlanta Falcons with a chance to rebound.

UFC: Heavyweight Ante Delija

The co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Steve Garcia versus David Onama on Saturday, Nov. 1, featured a key fight in the heavyweight division. We saw sixth ranked Waldo Cortes-Acosta and ninth ranked Ante Delija.

The fight did not go as planned for Delija; while he was raining punches on Cortes-Acosta, the referee stepped in to check on Cortes-Acosta, who got poked in the eye by Delija, who thought he had won the fight.

The fight would then resume, and less than 30 seconds later, Ante Delija was dropped with a right, and finished with ground. Delija had a  solid UFC debut in September, but is now 1-1.

Minnesota Timberwolves: guard Anthony Edwards

The Minnesota Timberwolves have high expectations this season, as the team is coming off back to back appearances in the Western Conference Finals. A big part of the reason is their star guard Anthony Edwards; however, he had an inconsistent game versus the New York Knicks Wednesday, Nov. 5, as they lost 137-114.

In Edwards defense, it was his return after missing the last four games due to a hamstring injury.

Still, his performance was not as expected, as he scored 15 points on five of 13 shooting from the field, was three of seven from deep and had three turnovers as well.

Perhaps he needed a game to get back into rhythm. heir next game will be Friday, Nov. 7,  in Minnesota against the Utah Jazz.
