The No. 16 New Mexico men’s basketball team, one of the few remaining undefeated NCAA Division I teams, dropped its first contest of the 2012-13 season Saturday afternoon with a 70-65 loss to unranked South Dakota State. It snapped a 12-game winning streak since the season began.

Williams, the scoring leader for the No. 16 New Mexico men, rolled his right ankle early in Wednesday night’s Rio Grande Rivalry game in Las Cruces. He hobbled off the Pan American Center court but returned minutes later. He didn’t miss a step. His career-high 24 points led the Lobos to a 68-63 victory over the Aggies.

New Mexico men stay unbeaten, beat in-state rival NMSU
J.R. Oppenheim | December 15The No. 17 New Mexico men’s basketball team made that many against 7-foot-5 center Sim Bhullar and a tall New Mexico State lineup. The Lobos contained their in-state foe to a 32.8 shooting percentage in their Rio Grande Rivalry game Saturday night, coming away with a 73-58 victory Saturday afternoon at The Pit.
