Ice Wolves' talent shows through

Tonight is Hockey Night at UNM. So is Saturday. Hockey at UNM? You better believe it. UNM's club hockey team, the Ice Wolves, has been active since 1996. The Ice Wolves (1-4-1) are now in their sixth year. The team, which plays the University of Northern Colorado this weekend, is proving that they have the speed, strength and talent to play with some of the top clubs in the region.

UNM focuses on self, Utah, BYU rematches

by Kenn Rodriguez Daily Lobo Despite their 7-14 record, the UNM volleyball team has not been a pushover this year. Just ask the University of Utah. The Utes, currently ranked ranked 22nd in the USA Today/AVCA Top 25, had trouble beating the Lobos in Mountain West Conference play, beating UNM 3-1 at home in October.

COLUMN: Proper English going extinct

English is the Frankenstein of languages - a little from here, a little from there; a mandible from Latin, some skin from Old Norse, and brought to life by some energy from French. English, like America, is a melting pot language, a hodgepodge of idioms, a smorgasbord without a sneeze guard, contaminated by all those who partake in the feast.

Practices prepare team for situations

The first couple weeks of practice consisted of us getting acclimated to a new system, which means coaching style and plays. I don't want to go too in depth with explaining our plays, but in our offense we are going to have a lot of movement with both the ball and players.

LETTER: Local pub should be ashamed of behavior

Editor, I was shocked at the article about a local bar denying a pregnant woman entry. This action was outrageous and what's even worse is that they rewarded this behavior. Refusing to serve a pregnant woman is one thing but this is going too far. What's next, requiring all women of childbearing age to submit to a pregnancy test before entering any establishment that serves alcohol? My full support goes to Heather and shame on Brewster's Pub.

O.A.R good for steamy musicality anytime

When I heard that Of A Revolution, better know as O.A.R., was planning to return to Albuquerque Halloween night, I jumped at the invitation to interview the talented quintet. I thought back to my first encounter with the band, just months ago at the Jeep World Tour where they played with Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley and dozens more.

MTV2 CD awakens rock music

by Abel Horwitz Daily Lobo For years MTV and its counterparts have been synonymous with popular culture. MTV decides, in a musical sense, who lives and who dies. Since the early '80s, MTV has decided what people listen to. Within the last ten years, MTV has gone more from music videos into the depths of "Road Rules" marathons and cheesy game shows that last five episodes.
