Effort to save hot-headed player started too late

I can't entirely blame Isaiah Rusher for his shortcomings. That would be too easy. On Wednesday, basketball head coach Steve Alford announced that Rusher was dismissed from the team. "Isaiah needed to go home to Houston and take care of some personal issues," Alford said.

Shoes kind of matter depending on the shirt, though." With a rosary bracelet on his left hand met by a smiling skull, Manuel's style is one of carefully crafted dissonance, melding the rough edges of punk style with Catholic undertones.

A smokin' good time at the Blazed and Confused tour

Some people say going to a hip-hop show is like going to church. The "Doggfather" of hip-hop came to Albuquerque's Journal Pavilion last Tuesday with a sermon that fell on more than 1,000 hungry ears. Snoop Dogg got people on their feet, singing along, and he even sang a Tupac Shakur song as a tribute to the deceased rapper.

1993's "Rookie of the Year" beats watching the MLB All-Star Game.

I learned it all from a rookie

Watching the MLB All-Star Game is tough. Trust me. I tried. Last week's exhibition of American League dominance was, somehow, less interesting than ones prior. Manny Ramirez was absent, Ryan Howard choked, and Josh Hamilton just isn't as exciting when he's not addicted to drugs.

One-stop system sacrifices students' privacy for speed

Editor, On more than one occasion, I stopped by the one-stop system, located in the old Financial Aid office, to take care of my business involving the admissions, financial aid and registrar's offices. While I admit the one-stop system adds speed and accessibility of records in a central location, I also see a larger problem developing: privacy.

U.S. must deal humbly with enemies

Is it just me, or did we trade the Cold War for a Colder War in the 21st century? We seem to have collected more enemies in the last couple decades, and worse, they seem to be getting more dangerous. Remember when our favorite rancher, George W. Bush, called them the Axis of Evil? We always need a bogeyman (or men) to prop up support for military action.

Senate should make energy act a priority

Last month, the House passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act, or the Waxman-Markey energy bill, a flawed but progressive piece of legislation aimed at reducing America's carbon emissions in the fight against climate change. Though ACES establishes a weak "carbon trading" plan, it is the first comprehensive anti-global-warming bill that has a chance at successfully passing in both houses of Congress.
