Protest turns violent

A talk hosted by the UNM Israel Alliance on Thursday turned violent, and footage from the incident has gone viral on YouTube. In the video, a group of protesters stand up and start chanting in the back of the anthropology lecture hall, where pro-Israel activist Nonie Darwish was in the middle of giving a talk.

(un)Occupy students attacked during protest

A group of UNM students, many of whom are members of (un)Occupy Albuquerque were physically assaulted after they protested during a lecture Thursday night. The group “mic checked” Nonie Darwish, author, human rights activist and daughter of Egyptian Army Leader Lieutenant General Mustafa Hafez while she was speaking on Israel’s involvement in the Arab Spring Movement.

On Feb. 16, a UNMPD officer went to UNMH in response to a combative patient, a police report states. The patient was standing on the southwest corner of the ER entrance smoking a pipe.

Driver who hit student speaks

The driver of a truck that hit UNM student Wolfgang Scott-Cohen said police promised to keep him updated on Scott-Cohen’s condition. But, the driver said, he never received any notifications, not even after Scott-Cohen died.
