UNM looks to lead conference

After last weekend's road split, the UNM men's soccer team needs to close out the conference schedule with a bang in order to advance to the postseason. The No. 17 Lobos (6-3-2) are 1-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation after a loss at Denver last Friday and a win at Air Force on Sunday.

Leader to make strong return

After an early season injury, one of the UNM football team's leaders plans to make an impact starting this weekend. Lobo linebacker and team captain Cody Kase, who has been hampered by a hamstring injury, wants to help change this season's direction in his comeback against Wyoming on Saturday.

The UNM men's soccer team did not plan on ending its first weekend of conference play with a split. After the Lobos lost 1-0 Friday at Denver, they bounced back with a 3-1 victory at Air Force on Saturday.

Start of softball season a hit

The UNM softball team opened its fall season with a two-game sweep of New Mexico Highlands on Saturday. With the wins, the Lobos improve to 30-0 all time against the Cowgirls.

Women's soccer gears up for MWC

The UNM women's soccer team overpowered St. Mary's in a 3-1 victory Friday before tying Nevada 0-0 on Sunday. It was the first tie of the season for the Lobos, which brings their record to 6-4-1 heading into

Volleyball sees loss as a chance to learn

After defeating San Diego State on Friday night, the UNM volleyball team was unable to beat UNLV on Saturday for Jam Johnson night. Last year at Jam Johnson, the Lobos broke an 18-match losing streak against Colorado State University, but this year UNLV (12-5, 3-2 Mountain West Conference) controlled most of the match and defeated the Lobos (6-10, 2-3 MWC) in five games.

Every foe has men's soccer in their sights

After a tough start to the 2006 season, the UNM men's soccer team has finally seemed to catch a wave of momentum. The No. 12 Lobos will ride a three-game winning streak into their first weekend of conference play this season. UNM will head to Colorado to take on Denver on Friday and Air Force on Saturday.

Rocky Long can't say enough to endorse the triple-option offense that Air Force will be running against the UNM football team Saturday. So how can the Lobos stop, or at least slow down, an offense that is invincible? Without a little luck, you can't, Long said.

Lobos snap five-game home losing streak

The UNM football team ended its five-game home losing streak with superb performances on both sides of the ball against UTEP with a 26-13 win Saturday. UNM took the ball and the momentum away from UTEP on the first drive of the game. Sophomore Herbert Felder sacked Miner quarterback Jordan Palmer, causing a fumble.
