Fourth-quarter run seals Emerald Bowl loss for Lobos

The Lobos couldn't overcome a late Navy drive that lasted almost an entire quarter's worth of play in their 34-19 loss at the Emerald Bowl on Thursday. Of the 30,563 people at SBC Park, fans decked in cherry and silver were vastly outnumbered by those wearing navy and gold.

Player vs. Player:Riley

I'll never forget when Sports Center juxtaposed two photos of Barry Bonds late last season during a piece on steroids. The two pictures will be forever burned into the back of my brain as a true testament to the utter immorality the sports world is now based on.

Payer vs. Player:Phil

Remember Captain Renault saying in "Casablanca" he was "shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here," just before being handed his winnings by one of the casino workers at Rick's? Isn't that how baseball fans are feeling right now in the wake of news that both Jason Giambi and Barry Bonds have admitted to steroid use? DUH.

Mike Roberts, who has announced Lobo games since they first began playing in The Pit, remembers the impact King had on UNM and the Albuquerque community. "He brought Lobo basketball from almost nothing into prominence, and started Lobo mania," Roberts said.
