Editor, Halloween was a sad day for some students. Just because a minority of people objected to the holiday on the grounds that it had religious undertones, Halloween was canceled in at least one school in Boston. The tradition of wearing a costume at school that many children look forward to at the end of October was suddenly taken away.
Editor, In his column in Tuesday's Daily Lobo, Andrew Price stated that Carthage lost the Second Punic War to Rome because the Carthaginian government had no stomach for the casualties and feared the power of a triumphant Hannibal. This is either a grand display of ignorance or a wonderful example of twisting history to match one's political opinions.

They will cling to someone who reciprocates with indifference or settle for their second choice. "Shopgirl," based on the Steve Martin novella of the same title, deals with this often complex and decidedly uncomfortable subject.
Editor, Earlier this semester I wrote a letter about the lack of credentials and education in the employees of Student Affairs, and John Bauer's letter in Monday's Daily Lobo frighteningly affirms that there are employees at UNM who have no business in the field of educating young minds.

Editor, Avian flu has been all over the news for a number of months now. The consensus seems to be that we are due to have a worldwide pandemic of the flu that will result in the death of millions of people. While H5N1 bird flu hasn't been found in the United States, in 2004 we had a number of confirmed cases of H5N2 bird flu in Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware and Texas, among other states.

The first-place winner, David Jackson, was the Predator from the movie "Alien vs. Predator." The second-place winner, Satoshi Shimada, went as a samurai warrior, and the third-place winner called herself "The Shower Lady," which was a lady dressed like she was taking a shower.
Editor, Lately, I hear more and more cases of extremist Christians offending the general public in attempts to "save" us. It is painful to hear about Christians being stereotyped as war-mongering, judgmental, self-righteous naysayers - especially by those who are extremists themselves.

His diatribe enthusiastically paints broad political canvasses with a few tiny brushstrokes and lambastes the privileged halls of academia while ignoring the poor and unfortunate.
