Trainspotting, a book, a movie, and now - a play showing at the Vortex Theater. First off, if you've seen the movie starring Ewan McGregor, you'll notice a few slight differences. A 13-member committee began searching for finalists last March and identified the finalists last Friday. The finalists are Thomasine P. Staff Report Former UNM English professor Louis Owens died Thursday, July 27, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, said Albuquerque Sunport spokeswoman Maggie Santiago. Owens was found in his car at the Sunport parking lot with a pistol and a note asking that his wife be notified.
Entering his fifth year as head coach of the UNM football program, it appears that Rocky Long finally has things down. In person, Long gives the appearance of a man who is comfortable with himself and his surroundings. And how could he not be? After all, he is coaching his alma mater.
Making sure UNM recognizes underrepresented groups in legislative priorities and other projects was a heated topic for Regent Richard Toliver during the Board of Regents Finance and Facilities meeting Monday, Aug. 5. Toliver broached the subject twice during the meeting: first during the legislative request priorities for the 2002-03 fiscal year, and then again before a series of motions to select four architects for UNM building projects.
The UNM campus played host to a number of popular names in the film industry last week as filming began on campus of the Paramount Pictures psychological thriller "Suspect Zero." The movie will star Aaron Eckhart, from "Erin Brokovich," Sir Ben Kingsley, who received an Academy Award for his work in "Ghandi" and Carrie-Anne Moss, who played Trinity in "The Matrix.
For some college football programs, not having a solid starter at a position is seen as a sign of instability. Not so at UNM — particularly on defense. “Any position that has a lot of competition and has quality players, I don’t think that’s a problem spot at all,” head coach Rocky Long said recently.
