Walter Tammo, chief creative officer and 160over90, said the photo shoots are being done to have photographic material, or “branded photos,” for the rebranding. “Having a bank of images to work with that fit well into the overarching brand is something of an importance,” he said. “Where you can tap into all different kinds of scenarios, from academic situations to dorm life or student life to athletic portions or events.”

UNM celebrated the 20th anniversary of National Poetry Month on Wednesday with the UNM English Department hosting the third annual Favorite Poem Project reading at Zimmerman Library. The Favorite Poem Project was founded in 1997 by Robert Pinsky, the 39th poet laureate of the U.S. It is dedicated to “celebrating, documenting and encouraging poetry’s role in Americans’ lives,” according to the project's website.

After being routed in New Mexico’s first day in California on Tuesday night, the Lobos bounced back with a 12-3 blowout over San Francisco on Wednesday. UNM had a quick start to the contest, as they plated four runs in the first inning followed by another four-spot in the top of the second. Grant Goodman had a very brief day for the Dons, only lasting one-third of an inning while allowing four runs, three of which were earned.

Associated Students of UNM elections results were announced Thursday night, and in rare fashion, members of two slates were evenly represented in the results, including splitting the presidential and vice presidential seats. Kyle Biederwolf, of the Ignite slate, was elected ASUNM president for the upcoming school year, and Cheyenne Feltz of Lobos United vice president by a little over 1,600 voters who took to the polls.
The New Mexico football team got its first taste of organized play with a scrimmage last Friday, along with a touch of light rain. Head coach Bob Davie said he was pleased with the turnout, which also marked the fifth annual Spring Coaches Clinic. Davie said the year prior to him taking the position there were about 10 coaches that showed up, but the numbers have grown each year. There were 75 coaches that attended Friday.
The UNM Health Sciences Center and the U.S. Attorney’s Office are partnering together to fight the epidemic of heroin and opioid prescription drug abuse. The New Mexico HOPE Initiative aims to target the abuse of heroin and opioid drugs through a comprehensive strategy that focuses on “prevention and education, treatment, law enforcement, re-entry and strategic thinking,” UNM and U.S. Attorney’s Office’s officials said.
