Youth in Transition, a day shelter for homeless youth, has never been a stranger to hardship, and when the building was burned down on Thanksgiving, it only got worse. Youth in Transition lost all of its supplies, including food and winter clothes, and is presently in a state of emergency.

I do not want you to take this as a personal attack, rather as a constructive (hopefully) critique of your time as editor of our university newspaper.
Basketball players Mark Walters and Jordan Adams are this week's New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week. Walters recorded his first double-double against Northeastern University in a 90-88 victory. He had 12 points and 11 rebounds. On Friday, he had a career-high 19 points in a win over Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
Sunday, the University of California at Los Angeles accepted a bid to play the UNM football team in the Sega Sports Las Vegas Bowl Dec. 25. The addition of the Bruins, out of the Pacific-10 Conference, gives the bowl game a friendly feel, said UNM Athletic Director Rudy Davalos.

Kevin Gover, 47, who graduated cum laude from the UNM School of Law in 1981, will teach courses at the ASU College of Law's Indian Legal Program.

It upheld the ban, which was not a surprise. But Judge Stephen Reinhardt, well known to be one of the nation's most proactive liberal judges, also produced for the case a 70-page dissertation on the Second Amendment.
UNM will celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe Feast Day in its own special way Dec. 12, with music, refreshments and guest speakers lecturing on the apparition that is a mainstay in New Mexican culture. Members of the Albuquerque Fire Department clean up gasoline spilled after a car was rolled over on campus Friday night by a UNM art student in what was apparently some type of display art project. The incident happened in front of Carlisle Gym. Lt. Michael Young of the UNM Police Departmnent, who was the department's watch commander the night of the incident, said he could not release the name of the student because police administrators were still processing the incident's report.
During winter break, several construction projects will begin around campus that will cause road closures and changes in pedestrian routes. According to the UNM Web site, Way To Go at www.unm.edu/waytogo/bigi.html, one of the most visible of these projects will be the construction of a utility tunnel trench extension in front of Popejoy Hall that will impact drivers and pedestrians using Redondo Drive.
