It might not seem like the right time to think about getting into the housing market, but it's never too soon to learn to be a prudent home buyer. Angela Muxworthy said first-time homeowners should learn about buying a home before they make their purchase.

Column: At UNM, some sports on uneven playing field

The University of New Mexico boasts the motto "Everyone's a Lobo!" - and by everyone, it means only football and basketball players. The distribution of funds among the 19 varsity sports at UNM is uneven. In fact, few sports receive full benefits. The athletic administration demands sportsmanship and fairness of its UNM athletes on the field, but it can't seem to demonstrate the same accountability from its office.

Concealed firearm carriers make for safer environment

Editor, In response to Jean Aragon's letter in Thursday's Daily Lobo, I could not agree more, and I would like to commend Aragon. The fact of the matter is, if there were an active shooter on campus, it would take precious minutes to notify the police and even more time for them to respond.

Quin's journey from junior college to Texans' roster was full of setbacks

The parallels are all there. On Sept. 8, 2002, the Houston Texans became the first team in 41 years to win in its expansion debut, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 19-10. Sunday, former UNM cornerback Glover Quin, the first person in his county to play Division-I football, reached the summit of football and is surely the first person from his small Mississippi county to be drafted in the NFL.

UNM needs bigger rec center with up-to-date equipment

Editor, I am writing this letter in response to numerous published editorials perpetuating the spread of misinformation on campus regarding the building of another recreation center. As it currently stands, Johnson Center is inadequate for just about any form of physical exercise outside of basketball.

Allowing concealed weapons won't make University safer

Editor, In the April 23 letter, Jean Aragon states that UNM Police being issued AR-15s is a step in the right direction, but is merely "a Band-Aid on a bullet wound." Aragon argues further that the real solution to campus violence is that persons with a concealed-carry weapon permit be allowed their arms on campus.

Do you feel safer on campus now that UNMPD has semiautomatic rifles? Devin Sydenstricker Sophomore Business "Yeah.. It just protects the community. I mean, it's an open campus, so it's kind of unsafe, especially in this part of town."
