Pancakes and campus priorities

A breakfast on Friday in the SUB Ballroom gave administrators and faculty a chance to think about the future of UNM. UNM President Louis Caldera said the breakfast was meant as a more social alternative to a "state of the University address.

The Lobos extended their winning streak at The Pit to 21 straight, defeating the conference-leading Air Force Academy 62-59 on Saturday night. "I am very impressed with Air Force," head coach Ritchie McKay said.

The claim is that the department wants to curb child pornography and states that the law can do a better job than software filters. First of all, it is up to parents to be responsible and pay for filters.

Meeting held amid rumors

Rumors have been flying around campus and the city over UNM President Louis Caldera's fate at the University. There has been some speculation his days as head of state might be numbered. A regents meeting is being held Wednesday to discuss personnel matters, but officials remain tight-lipped on what is on the agenda.

Women rally to defeat Air Force

Staff Report The UNM women's basketball team improved to 14-4 with a 59-54 comeback victory against the Air Force Academy on Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo. The No. 18 Lobos trailed 52-47 with 3:55 left to play, but went on a 12-0 run to take control of the game late.

Junior's return to UNM lands

by Steven Fernandez Daily Lobo Jeremy Johnson has to make up for lost time. Saturday at the Modrall Sperling Lobo Invitational, Johnson showed he is on the right track. The junior distance runner, who transferred to the University of Arizona from the University of New Mexico after his freshman season in 2002, returned to UNM this year.

Letter: Residents deserve second study on contamination

Editor, From 1972 to 1993, the Terminal Effects Research and Analysis Group - a department of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology - tested and developed weapons containing depleted uranium on the mountain next to the community of Socorro. In 1986, there was significant discussion within the community when it learned that the testing was with a radioactive material.

Ex-UCLA coach to help Lobos

UNM Press rides wave of success

UNM Press's sales are about 64 percent higher than they were this time last year - the latest in a series of successes for the publisher. Last year the press made about $100,000. This year, the press is far ahead of that number, at about $500,000 said Luther Wilson, director of UNM Press.
