Editor, As some students may have figured out, Facebook.com, a commonly used social Web site, has been acting rather flaky as of late to those living in the dorms on the University-provided Internet. About a week ago, I was having trouble connecting to the site - figuring it was server issues on their side, I figured I would try later.

Exploring Arab rights in U.S.

By 2003, there was an estimated 12,000 people detained, she said, and not one of them was convicted of a terrorism-related crime.

UNM offers more eight-week courses

Staff Report Wynn Goering, associate provost of UNM, announced last week the University will be offering eight-week classes for the second half of the semester. Registration began Monday and classes begin Oct. 17. Physical Education courses, which are worth one credit, are offered in the second eight-weeks of the semester.

Rockers return with a bang

The band is touring with punk legends the Adicts in support of their album Thwak Thwak Go Crazy. Cooper, the bassist and co-vocalist, wanted to emphasize that the band is distinct from its punk contemporaries.

Finding trouble in poetry

He once again proves to be the common man's snob. It is this contradiction of wanting to make poetry accessible and at the same time being an esoteric poet that makes him so appealing.

New education center named after Domenici

Lobos lose 27-24 to BYU

by Daniel S. Archuleta Daily Lobo The UNM football team lost a heartbreaker of a Homecoming game to Brigham Young University 27-24 on Saturday night at University Stadium. The Lobos surrendered a 24-13 lead they held early in the fourth quarter. UNM head coach Rocky Long took full responsibility for the loss.

Letter: Pessimistic ears relieved by Atmosphere's album

Editor, I just had to react to Jessica Del Curto's review of the new Atmosphere album in Wednesday's Daily Lobo. When I threw this album in my CD player, I must admit that I too was hoping for something better than Seven's Travels, which was a damn disappointment.

Police auction seized bicycles

Karen Bowman, who works in the records division of the UNM Police Department, helped auction off 65 bicycles on Friday at the Duck Pond. The auction was an effort to get rid of bicycles confiscated by the UNM Police Department from the past year, Bowman said.

"You add a fiery bunch and a field that was bumpy, and it turns into a war instead of a soccer game," said junior Andrew Boyens, the Lobos' central defender.

Rookie mistakes leave room for growth

That does not mean the home tournament was completely unsuccessful for the Lobos, though. Freshmen Johnny Parkes and Graeme Kassautzki played in the Flight A division of the singles this weekend, and both advanced to the quarterfinals.

A bittersweet run for Homecoming

Loss of key runners no sweat to Lobos

Senior Jacquelyne Gallegos, the Lobos' top runner, was forced to drop out of the women's race with a hamstring injury.
