Editor, To the “serious journalists” of Doing It in the Duke City: While I applaud the idea of a column discussing sex in the Daily Lobo and cheer at the idea of having a sense of humor about it, your sex column was profoundly horrifying. Let’s just make this short and sweet, something I wished the author of “Doing It in the Duke City” had done. Jokes?
Editor, It’s hard to be a Lobo right now. I don’t think I stand alone in hoping that the Lobo football team continues its losing streak in order to secure a perfect season.
Editor, I am writing to respond to Muhajir Salam’s letter to the Daily Lobo on Oct. 26. In his letter, he states that his UNM courses on Islam promote anti-Muslim stereotypes and sentiments.
Editor, I oppose treating immigrants as criminals just because they do not have legal papers. I oppose treating people who compassionately help these immigrants as criminals.
Editor, This is in response to Muhajir Salam, who wrote a letter to the editor about his religion classes on Monday. Mr. Salam, I am very surprised that, as a college student, you were unable to figure out that anyone other than you would know the true meaning of Islam.
Editor, This is a response to Peter Zeikus’ letter, “Weh, not Denish, will stand up for hardworking New Mexicans,” that posted Tuesday on Dailylobo.com.
Editor, I am a history professor who teaches courses on Middle East, South Asia and Islam. In Tuesday’s Lobo, Muhajir Salam alleged bias against Islam in unnamed courses he is taking this semester that relate to Islam.
Editor, I am new here in Albuquerque and I would like to meet some students that have radical ideas.
Editor, Over the last year or so, there has been a lot of finger pointing as to what caused the housing and ultimately the financial crisis.
Editor, I can’t believe that the voters in this state are seriously considering electing Diane Denish given how badly her administration has handled the budget in Santa Fe.
Editor, This is an open letter to David Harris, UNM executive vice president and former UNM interim, aka “acting” president: Dear Dave, Given the fiscal crisis at the University, I’ve been batting around some ideas about cost cutting and fundraising over the next year or two.
Editor, As a Religious Studies major who happens to be Muslim, I recently signed up for classes related to my religion of choice: Islam.
Editor, As a former student member of the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers program, I was dismayed and outraged to find out that it’s at risk of being discontinued.
Editor, The recent Daily Lobo article on the construction of a new parking lot has drawn attention, yet again, to the University’s problems with traffic in and around the campus area.
Editor, This is the first letter I have written to the newspaper because there has been nothing I felt so passionate about until now.
Editor, I am pleased to see that over 50 percent of the people who have voted so far in this week’s online poll recognize Fox News as nothing more than a mouthpiece for conservative-based propaganda.
Editor, Last November, many students voted for the first time in their lives after they chose not to do so in previous elections. The saying that “money talks, people walk” still rings true.
Editor, Instead of building a $17 million parking structure at Lomas and Yale boulevards, UNM Parking and Transportation Services should simply construct a $50 bus stop for its ubiquitous shuttles. A shuttle stop at Lomas and Yale would give faculty, students and staff easy access to the city buses that pass by there almost every 10 minutes.
Editor, The Bible contains some of the worst poison crap and some of the best precious wisdom ever written.
