Schmidly's son withdraws application for sustainability job

President David Schmidly's son was hired last week as associate director of sustainability, a job that pays $94,000 per year. But on Sunday, Brian Schmidly withdrew his application for the position amid accusations of unfairness. "I care too much about sustainability in this state and at the University of New Mexico to operate in an advocacy role in which I would not be effective, and my wife has convinced me that my integrity and reputation are too valuable to continue in an environment where they will be questioned indefinitely," Brian Schmidly said in a statement.

Check the facts yourself instead of relying on media

Editor, This is a response to the column "Barack Obama: the bad man" by Benjamin Sanchez from Wednesday's Daily Lobo. I realize Sanchez's main point that he is trying to get across as far as Obama having a weak character for being in association with some individuals.

Column: Barack Obama: the bad man

The good man desires the same thing with all his soul. This brief but profound sentence sums up Aristotle's teaching on the good man. We can understand this sentence by starting with Aristotle's examination of the bad or weak man. He struggles with doing what is right and often does what he knows to be bad.
