Letter: Peace hard to attain while Israel annexes more land
May 1I am surprised that UNM would hire someone as ridiculously blind to the facts as Shlomo Karni, whose letter appeared in Wednesday's issue of the Daily Lobo.

This is in response to all the smokers out there who think the particulate matter they exude is simply inconvenient or unpleasant, and that we who choose not to smoke are fussy, neurotic and unreasonable.
I was shocked by a letter in last Wednesday's issue of the Daily Lobo in which a reader supported the United States' decision to suspend financial aid to the Palestinian Authority because, as he put it, Palestinians don't deserve aid for electing terrorists.
It seems there has been a lot of talk around campus and in the Opinion section of the Daily Lobo about a proposed on-campus outdoor smoking ban.
Once again, UNM is implementing changes to make everything easier for the students, and the days of the paper class catalog are over.
As a freshman, I used to pick up the Daily Lobo, browse the pages, and either toss it aside or add it to the disorganized mess in my backpack.
As a senior in the Anderson Schools of Management, I'll be taking the Learning Assurance Test exit exam as part of the required Management 498 course.
First of all thank you for putting the article "Petitioning for paper schedules" on the front page of the Daily Lobo this week. This is a major change for all students, and when I found out about this change I was shocked and upset. I am glad people are petitioning this - everyone should sign it.
John Bear has a lot of nerve. His name-calling and threats against those of us working for a smoke-free campus prove how intensely his addiction controls him. Judging by the 200-signature - and rising - petition for a smoke-free campus, with names of students, staff and faculty, we nonsmokers are a tightly-wound group as well, but not the terrorist faction Bear accuses us of being.
This is in response to Louis Schiffman's letter to the editor in Friday's issue of the Daily Lobo. Yes, free money from the Lottery Success Scholarship does help us get through school, and, as a student who uses the Lottery Scholarship money to basically pay for school, I know how it helps.
Thanks so much for the explanation for the reason that the fall schedule will not be printed.
Jason Darensburg, in his letter to the Daily Lobo in Thursday's Opinion section, is unaware of, or chooses to ignore, the plain historical facts regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Ah, the real benefits of development. In central India, civil rights leaders are refusing to eat until the Indian government listens to its people. Those who have not eaten in about a month are being supported only by the cries of thousands of university students, union leaders and others.
I am a senior here at UNM, and I have just registered for classes for next semester. I am writing this letter to express my disappointment in the manner in which the University Honors Program has had its option for early registration removed.
When I first got my 2003 Dodge Neon, I could fill the tank for $14. The other day, I spent $25 and only filled it to three-quarters of a tank.
Last year a group of concerned individuals came together to promote a smoke-free campus for north campus, main campus and all branch campuses.
It has been brought to my attention that a terrorist organization known as the Coalition for a UNM Smoke-Free Campus is being allowed to operate freely in and around the University.
Soon UNM's staff will have the opportunity to make a decision to improve the health of all who visit the campus.
I am an avid nonsmoker, notorious for giving my smoking friends a hard time about smoking and their health. But I strongly disagree with the idea of banning smoking on campus.
