Editor, In response to Kevin Cahill's Jan. 24 letter in the Daily Lobo about the backpack vacuum cleaners used by our custodial staff, the Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs would like to provide the following information.

Perhaps he was actually concerned with something more - to cast himself in a favorable light in the eyes of military supporters.
Editor, Brad Lord-Leutwyler's Feb. 22 column echoes a sentiment that many people, myself included, feel; namely, that heroism is misunderstood.
Editor, The Albuquerque Tribune reported Thursday that The Sporting News ranked UNM 88th out of 115 schools playing Division-I sports. The magazine gave UNM an "F" for ethics based on the school's gender-equity policies, graduation rates and compliance with NCAA rules.

Editor, Enrique Montoya’s Feb. 22 letter about the widening gap between the rich and poor show how indoctrinated we have become to see our country in only two different classes: One which unfairly has become rich and the other whose back the rich stepped on to get there.
Editor, While I agree with Brad Lord-Leutwyler that, for the most part, sports celebrities are not to be mistaken for heroes and that his letter should serve as a call to arms against Webster’s Dictionary — the editors advocate the synonomy of ‘ensure’ and ‘insure’ — I cannot deny the rage that springs from reading his Feb. 22 column.
Editor, I attended Phillip Johnson’s lecture on Monday and was appalled and embarrassed by the behavior of many audience members.
