UNM vs. NMSU

All this week, the word rivalry has been tossed around in regards to Saturday's football game between UNM and NMSU. But when the Lobos have won four in a row against the Aggies, can it really be called that?

Craig's sex scandal hardly considered a national crisis

Editor, It is difficult not to laugh at the plight of Republican family-values and anti-gay folks such as Sens. David Vitter and Larry Craig when they are exposed for the hypocrites that they are. But the reaction of the Republican presidential candidates and senators is disgusting.

Marching for peace while paying for war hypocritical

Editor, Nothing in my life is more important than refusing to pay federal income tax for war - no matter who is the president, Republican or Democrat. The best way to refuse to pay federal income tax for war with no fines and no threats from the government is to live simply - below the taxable level.

Union of man and woman is the natural, moral law

Editor, The occurrence of promiscuous homosexual sex in public restrooms reveals a deeper problem in American culture. There is a large-scale breakdown of basic reason in the minds and behavior of many Americans. A primary cause of this breakdown is moral relativism.

Impeaching Bush, Cheney is the first step to recovery

Editor, President Bush and his cronies often accuse their adversaries of the very crimes they themselves are guilty of. This inclination is pathological. Thus, Bush has the audacity to threaten Iran with military action for, as he claims, trying to build a nuclear bomb, attacking his forces in Iraq and murdering Iraqi civilians.

Price of parking passes nothing to complain about

Editor, As a UNM commuter student, I have found the recent comments about the $112-per-semester parking charges to be quite ignorant. I own a South Lot parking permit and have read on the permit's top margin that it lasts for more than a full calendar year - for about 369 days.

Straight men just as likely to commit lewd public acts

Editor, I find it amusing that the first article to raise my ire to write a letter pertains to public gay sex. But what would one expect when he reads such a frivolous and non-newsworthy article on the front page of a university newspaper? Clearly, it is a tasteless spin-off of the Sen.

Sex in public restrooms can't be pinned on gay men

Editor, Just because the mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jim Naugle, made unfounded accusations against gay men having rampant sex in public restrooms, it doesn't mean everyone should follow suit. Nothing stated in the article on gay men soliciting others for sex in Tuesday's Daily Lobo proves that gay students at UNM are having sex in our restrooms.

Euphoric suspension

You might have to suspend your disbelief to engage in an upcoming Albuquerque convention. Southwest Suscon will bring the art of body suspension to Albuquerque this weekend - but it's not intended for the faint of heart.

Article about homosexuals only promotes prejudice

Editor, I was shocked by the story on gay men having sex in public restrooms published in Tuesday's Daily Lobo. Not only was the evidence circumstantial, which is beneath what I have come to expect from the Daily Lobo, but also slanted toward provoking violence against anyone perceived as gay in that environment.
