Taking the cockroach approach

La Cucaracha Stew Co. is out to prove that politics is not just about speeches and fliers. "Our whole idea is to be a guerrilla theater kind of thing that can go to a protest and do an image that knocks into everybody's head what we are trying to say, without even saying anything," member Billah Muhammad said. "They know what it is. They know what we are doing. We don't even have to say anything."

Evolution allows people to select same-gender mates

Editor, In his letter in the Daily Lobo on March 9, Benjamin Sanchez chose to turn a blind eye to a fundamental fact of nature: Human beings are unlike any other animal on the planet. This is because evolution has supplied us with a brain that allows us to rise above basic animal instinct.

Homosexual behaviors not unique to humans

Editor, On March 9, Daily Lobo alumnus Benjamin Sanchez made an argument against homosexuality based on the fact that the biological ability to reproduce is limited to a male and a female. While I don't care to comment on most of his arguments, I would like to point out that there is considerable homosexual behavior among animals.

Late-night KUNM show promotes discrimination

Editor, The KUNM radio station airs a program called "Street Beat" Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. I am a gay man living in rural New Mexico, and as much as I love good music, the stuff played on the program, for the most part, is degrading to people.

Some SUB employees lack customer courtesy

Editor, After a day filled with strenuous and stressful classes at UNM, a trip to the SUB for a quick bite to eat and a few minutes to chat with friends is a time to get away. The issue I am about to address has really bothered me and my peers for quite some time now.
