Socialism drains a nation’s happiness

I want to thank Jason Darensburg for providing me with the real gem of a column, titled “US trails in happiness worldwide” in Wednesday’s Daily Lobo. It once again displays the need for socialists to distort the truth about reports, even when it’s the most subjective and equivocal study about the human condition.

Historically, Arabs refused to compromise with Israel

Editor, Richard Forer’s letter published in Tuesday’s Daily Lobo, ”Glossing over history is bad, Israel never content,” is dumbed-down anti-Semitism at its best. And before anyone says the author is “Jewish,” what does that mean?

Kendall Williams: A game-high 28 points in New Mexico’s 73-66 win over San Diego. Alex Kirk: 21 points; Cameron Bairstow: 16 points. The rest of the Lobo roster: eight points. Football: Progress shows in loss

Maturity takes time. Two years ago, the New Mexico football team fell at Boise State 45-0 without much of a fight. On Saturday, UNM lost once again to the Broncos in Boise, Idaho, but the game was much more competitive. The Lobos lost their regular season finale 45-17 at Bronco Stadium.

Volleyball: Lobos finish second in MWC

It’s been 25 years since the New Mexico volleyball team has had success like this. Thanks to UNM’s 14th sweep of the season over San Jose State on Wednesday, UNM improved to 24-7, which is the most wins the Lobos have had since 1988. The Lobos also secured second place in the Mountain West Conference with a 14-6 conference record.

Navajo president: We need to develop tech

For Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly, the future of that nation’s economy depends on investments in technological infrastructure in his community. “Navajo residents live in a remote area,” he said. “Their roads are bad, they have very poor connectivity. When someone gets hurt, they call 911, and by the time the person gets there, the person is gone.

US trails in happiness worldwide

Let’s be honest. America is not exactly the happiest place in the world to live. Not by a long shot. A complete list of all the causes would take up another entire column. Needless to say, a lot of people are pretty miserable right now.

Volleyball: Slim shot for NCAA spot

The New Mexico volleyball team’s fight for second place in the Mountain West Conference continues, but the end result may not matter much for the Lobos. UNM (23-7, 13-6 MWC) will play its final game of the regular season tonight against San Jose State

Dr. Pegs Prescription

Dear Dr. Peg, Now that it is dark earlier, it might be good to remind students, who dress for fashion rather than light-colored winter jackets or clothing with reflective panels, that it is important to look both ways before crossing a street.

Glossing over history is bad, Israel never content

Editor, Shlomo Karni’s recent letter published in Monday’s Daily Lobo, ‘History of the West Bank is worth recalling,” is a typical example of myth-making disguised as history. Its deceitful purpose is to deny documented history while sabotaging the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination.

Garcia says Lobo story is untrue, offers apology

Editor, On Nov. 6, the Daily Lobo ran a story (“Judge: Former UNM president granted access to seized property”) about my being granted access to property that APD had seized. There were a couple of errors in the story that I would like to correct. I would like to emphasize that I was never a partner or associate of Mr. Flory.
