Obama unqualified for office; McCain lesser of two evils
September 8Editor, I will admit my Aug. 18 anti-Obama letter to the Daily Lobo was superficially worded, and I've reconsidered my political stance a few times since reading the aggressive responses I've received from it. During the initial stages of this presidential race, Obama appealed to me much more than John McCain because his motto is "Change we can believe in.

Media corrupt minds capable of committing violence, murder
September 8Editor, One of my most painful, hazy early childhood memories makes me especially aware of how violent I, or anyone else, can be. I was about 5 years old and in the midst of a temper tantrum when I went to the pantry in our Illinois farm home, and I got a large butcher's knife to frighten, threaten or harm my mother.
Porterie shoulders losses, criticism
Isaac Avilucea | September 8As if starting 0-2, throwing two interceptions against Texas A&M and being the scapegoat for sports pundits isn't enough, Lobo quarterback Donovan Porterie still has to fulfill an obligation he has in the locker room. He still has to lead. Compared to last year, when Porterie was 42-of-63 for 532 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the first two games, this season, Porterie is a combined 25-of-49 for zero touchdowns, three interceptions and a fumble.

Abortion may be immoral, but it's a woman's right to choose
September 5Editor, I am writing in response to Benjamin Sanchez's letter on Friday. It seems he is very confused with Sen. Barack Obama's stance on abortion. Fortunately, since I seem to share the same stance, I can shed some light on it. We should all know the old argument that states a woman has the right to do what she wants with her body.
