The University has budgeted for adding seven or eight faculty positions in the coming year and for promoting some faculty members. Students, faculty and staff can now get free antivirus software from UNM's Information Technology Services. The software, Symantec Endpoint Protection, can be downloaded from the ITS Web site. The software will not expire as long as the user is affiliated with the University, said Michael Carr, director of Information Assurance.

Lissa Knudsen won the GPSA presidential seat for 2009-10. She will take office in mid-May. All eight of the GPSA amendments passed, and the two motions of no confidence in President David Schmidly and Executive Vice President David Harris passed by margins of more than 70 percent.
Construction of two Main Campus parking structures is scheduled to start at the end of the semester. The Board of Regents approved the project at its meeting Thursday. The two structures will cost about $29 million and will be funded by bonds sold in 2007, according to UNM.
