Nicole Ryan Volleyball Ryan was named MVP of the Albuquerque Marriott Lobo Classic after averaging 4 kills and 1.42 blocks per game. She racked up 15 kills and eight block assists in a win over Weber State. Blake Danaher Soccer Danaher was named the offensive MVP of the adidas/Crescent Financial Solutions Invitational.

Coach faults 'team issues' in loss

by Travis Weber Daily Lobo The UNM women's soccer team suffered an emotional loss at home Sunday afternoon, falling to Fresno State 4-2. It was the Lobos' third loss in a row, dropping their season record to 3-4-0. "We played well in California and lost to two very good teams, in Washington State and Loyola Marymount," head coach Kit Vela said.

The Lobo women's volleyball team won the Albuquerque Marriott Lobo Volleyball Classic this weekend with victories over Hartford, UTEP and Weber State. Third-year head coach Kelley McKee said her team's play over the weekend could be a turning point for the team.

Lobos triumph over No. 1 team

With 13 seconds left in double overtime, the UNM men's soccer team scored the game-winning goal Sunday and sent the No.1 team in the country, the Indiana Hoosiers, home packing. Freshman Blake Danaher received a ball from junior Ben Ashwill and beat his defender to the left before calmly kicking the ball beyond the outstretched hands of the Hoosier goalkeeper.

Men's soccer team kicks it with the best

When the Lobo men's soccer team takes the field Sunday, they'll be playing the defending national champions - a team that has won 22 games in a row. The Indiana Hoosiers, undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the country, are the kings of college soccer, ruling from their castle perched high above the other Division I programs.

OSU loses top player, Lobos to seek revenge

by Kristie Boudwin Daily Lobo The Oregon State Beavers should have more trouble damming up the Lobos this year. This is the first OSU rematch for the Lobos since the 2003 Las Vegas Bowl. OSU dominated the game, winning 55-14. The Beaver defense limited the Lobos to 127 total offensive yards, while their offense accumulated more than four times that amount, finishing with 540 total yards.

Staff Report Former Lobo skier Jennifer Delich was chosen to represent of New Mexico as a Woman of the Year award finalist. The award honors female student athletes who excel in athletics academics, and community service. Finalists must also have finished their collegiate athletics eligibility.

David James said the Cincinnati Bengals will win the Super Bowl this year. I imagine three questions are popping into your head after reading that intro: Who is David James? Why do I care what team he thinks will win? And is he nuts? The answer to that last one is hard to figure out.
