Simply put, if you don’t like musicals, “Man of La Mancha” is not going to change your mind. The Landmark Musical production has that sort of hammy blood-and-thunder attitude that musicals are known for.

After losing the last two games against tough Texas opponents, the New Mexico women’s basketball team is finding that its struggles are not insurmountable. The Lobos’ struggle to sink shots have baffled head coach Yvonne Sanchez. She said that the team works constantly in practice and in the mornings to make sure that their shooting is on.

The Associated Students of the University of New Mexico senate passed an emergency resolution on Wednesday concerning the Lottery Scholarship. In a full senate meeting, ASUNM senators enacted a resolution that calls for Gov. Susana Martinez to give a special message that recommends all legislation on the Scholarship to be considered during the state Legislature’s 30-day session. The legislative session begins in January.
UNM might be able to continue development of Innovate ABQ for much cheaper by next month. Mesa del Sol developers have offered the Aperture Center, a 78,000-square-foot building in east Albuquerque, to UNM for $4.5 million as part of the University’s push for a two-site Albuquerque business and innovation hub.
Kendall Williams forced one overtime session Thursday at the Charleston Classic in South Carolina. Alex Kirk forced a second. Cleveland “Pancake” Thomas ensured there was not a third. New Mexico’s sophomore point guard drained a 3-pointer late in the second overtime period, lifting the No. 19 Lobos into the second round at the Charleston Classic.
From the outside, it may look like Bob Davie’s long-term plan for the New Mexico football team isn’t working, particularly on defense. UNM’s head coach said he’s not overly concerned about the Lobos’ defensive struggles, pointing out that Baylor’s defense struggled mightily for two seasons under coordinator Phil Bennett before turning it into a top-11 defense this season.
It’s pretty much a consensus, especially among many younger voters, that the current political climate isn’t really helping many people besides those already in power and low-information voters in both parties.
Editor, The Obama administration’s implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, has been a topic of several cartoons in recent issues of the Daily Lobo. As witty as these cartoons may be, they are not amusing.
