In 2000, Abby Johnson had a surgical abortion. Still a college student at the time, she was afraid that having a baby would ruin her future. When she became pregnant by the same man in 2003, Johnson had an abortion again.

Lobos whomp entire tourney

The youthful New Mexico volleyball team didn’t feel any growing pains this weekend, sweeping its first home tournament of the year. UNM (5-1) faced the UC Riverside Highlanders (0-6) on Friday at the Sheraton Airport Lobo Classic.

UNM prevails in overtime thriller

EL PASO, Texas – Running back Kasey Carrier scored a game-winning 21-yard run in overtime, leading New Mexico to a 42-35 victory over UTEP Saturday night at the Sun Bowl. Carrier rushed for 291 yards and four touchdowns, including the final score in OT.

A local Sustainable Business Summit recognized UNM with a special Judges’ Award for achievement in sustainability. Mary Clark, sustainability manager at UNM, said there were several categories at the Aug. 29 summit.

Duck Pond turtles baffle officials, charm students

Shelled critters have invaded the Duck Pond and questions remain as to where they came from. Turtles have arrived in the Duck Pond to stay, said Mary Vosevich, director of UNM’s Physical Plant Department, which is in charge of maintenance of the pond.

Do Republicans understand that we live in a republic? Republicanism asserts that all citizens possess unalienable rights that cannot be voted away by the majority. Yet Republican Gov. Susana Martinez has recently called for a vote to decide if all citizens of New Mexico have to right to get married.
