Silent Bob is at it again

KUNM to feature spoken word artist Justin Bailey
Blake Driver | May 3KUNM will feature local spoken word artist Justin Bailey and his new album release, The Primatives, tonight in a half-hour interview with Cynthia Hern†ndez.
Limiting free speech is wrong
Richard Berthold | May 3It is certainly understandable that some old lady clutching an icon of the Virgin might not fully understand the meaning of free expression, but it is always disappointing to see university students assume a similar intolerant stance.
<i>Lobo</i> right to print sound, well-writen advertisement
May 3Editor, I applaud and appreciate your decision to print David Horowitz's controversial advertisement regarding race reparations.
Body art is gaining more acceptance
May 3Underneath all that clothing, hidden in the nooks of college bodies, are tiny rings of metal and splashes of permanent color that no boss will ever see. No one can walk around UNM for very long without seeing that hair dye, tattoos and piercings are becoming the norm. A study done in January at Texas Tech University found that 15 to 20 percent of college students, who are the bread and butter of many tattoo shops, have tattoos and piercings.
Americans should pay reparations
May 3Editor, We have seen many examples in the last couple of weeks from people who do not believe in reparations to African-Americans.
Surphing Matylda to make splash at Burt's

Tennis teams on NCAA bubble

Dull, lengthy lectures face major competition

Senate approves BSU rollover
Alma Olaechea | May 3The Senate approved $675 in rollover funding for the Black Student Union but rejected a bill that would make "a beast of almost mythical proportions" the Senate's mascot. Representatives of the Black Student Union did not attend a spring budget workshop and hearing that are required to receive funding through ASUNM without being penalized. Student groups that do not attend the workshop or hearing receive at least 15 percent less in funding than they did the year before.
Free expression should flourish at universities
May 3Editor, Since I graduated from UNM a year and a half ago, I find myself reading the Daily Lobo more than ever. I also have seen the reoccurrence of a problem that plagued the Lobo a few years back.
Lobo deserves kudos for running controversial ad
May 2Editor, While David Horowitz has some good points in his reparations advertisement, he quickly spoils them toward the end of the list. He asks the question of acknowledgement of black America and its leaders for the “gifts” of freedom. He is quick to point out that “a white president” gave his life for his beliefs, but he forgets to mention Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — a black activist who was also killed because of his beliefs.
Republican candidate for mayor to visit UNM tonight
Alma Olaechea | May 2Mike McEntee, a city councilor and Republican mayoral candidate, will speak about city politics and answer questions tonight at 7 p.m. in room 127 of Dane Smith Hall.
